Bradford Lund, an heir to the Disney fortune, is suing in probate court for release from his state-appointed legal guardian. Lund, following a ruling that he was incapacitated in 2010, was placed under his the guardianship of his father, Bill Lund. Since then, the family has been involved in a bitter legal struggle to determine who has access to the multi-million dollar trust fund left to two children, Brad Lund and his twin sister, Michelle.

Brad now claims that he is not incapacitated, and is asking a federal judge to give him the right to determine how his trust fund is spent, ending the guardianship of Brad's father.

The battle began when Bill Lund and Walt Disney's daughter, Sharon, filed for divorce in 1977. Following the divorce, Bill was named as one of the trustees of the trust fund. After Michelle and Bill had an argument over allegations that he freely spent money from the trust fund during her illness in 2009, Brad became involved over a disagreement over how his money was being spent.

Brad has been reported as being developmentally disabled, but is now fighting the classification with new medical documents that his lawyers claim prove that he is not disabled, and is in proper condition to manage his own estate. Michelle originally successfully fought to have Brad made a ward of the state, and an attorney was appointed as the man's legal guardian.

Currently, Brad must review all living expenses with his guardian, who has full control over what does and does not get paid.
